An event was held on 2nd February 2017 to launch the new DFID-funded programme called Knowledge for Development (K4D). This programme aims to support DFID and its partners through learning and the use of evidence to improve the impact of development policy and programmes. Chris Collison, Knowledge Management Consultant, described one of the largest and most complex learning systems – the Olympic Games. Every two year, the cycle of the games launches a new and highly complex ‘project’ that goes from nothing to 100,000 staff members and a budget of $10 billion over the course of seven years. He talked through its success being the result of learning after doing, thematic curation of knowledge and learning before doing.
