How Effective is Kenya’s Current Legislation Relating to Human Trafficking

31st July 2026

This K4DD Rapid Evidence Review explores how effective Kenya’s current legislation is relating to human trafficking. Kenya’s position within the Great Horn of East Africa region, coupled with its economic progress, have made it a destination, country of transit, and harbour for trafficking in the region.

While Kenya boasts a strong legal framework in line with international best practices, its implementation in practice leaves significant room for improvement, including in data collection and monitoring, protection, prevention, and combatting corruption.
